Archdiocese & PCL Hold Inaugural Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Meeting

Radnor, PA – The high schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Catholic League held the inaugural meeting of its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on Thursday morning on the campus of Archbishop John Carroll High School.
Topics discussed involved issues that affect student-athletes such as time demands, sportsmanship, PIAA policies, and serving as the voice of student-athletes at their respective high schools. Guest speakers included Brooke Hagan, SAAC member and swimming student-athlete Cabrini University; Ms. Allison Venella, Director of Student-Athlete Development at Villanova University; Villanova football student-athlete John Hinchen; Mr. James Casey, President, Lansdale Catholic High School; and Fr. Matthew Guckin, Director of Catholic Mission & Identity, Catechetical Formation.
Following his presentation on Sports & Spirituality, Fr. Guckin blessed the rosaries provided to each SAAC member by the Office of Catholic Education.
The group will hold a second meeting in the Spring of 2017.
