Archbishop Carroll Captures 2017 PCL Girls' Volleyball Championship

ASTON, PA - Sophomore Audrey Jones registered 18 kills and setter Morgan Silks compiled 34 assists as top-seed Archbishop Carroll defended its Philadelphia Catholic League girls' volleyball title with a 3-0 victory over No. 2 Archbishop Wood in the 2017 finals on Sunday evening at the Mirenda Center on the campus of Neumann University.
After dropping just one set while compiling a perfect 12-0 record during the PCL regular season, the Patriots advance to the District XII 4A title game at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 3 at Bishop McDevitt High School.
After falling behind 4-0 in the opening set, Jones notched a kill from the left side to get Archbishop Carroll on the board, and from there the Patriots seized the momentum en route to a 25-12 first set victory. Carroll won the second set by a 25-11 margin and the third set by a score of 25-12. Libero Gina Custer recorded 18 digs, outside hitter Paige Monastero notched 14 kills and Silks added nine digs for the Patriots.
Seeking its second PCL crown in three seasons, Archbishop Wood advances to the District XII 3A title game at 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 3 at Bishop McDevitt High School.
