JENKINTOWN, PA - In conjunction with the Philadelphia Catholic League, JAKIB Media Sports announces the execution of a contract to broadcast the 2018 PCL Girls' & Boys' Basketball Championship games from The Palestra on the University of Pennsylvania campus. Also, included will be the broadcast coverage of the 2018 PCL Girls' & Boys' Basketball Semifinal games. The Boys semifinal games will be played at The Palestra. The Girls' Semifinal games will be played at Jefferson University (formerly Philadelphia University).
JAKIB Media is proud to broadcast the PCL championship games for the second straight year and to add the semifinal games to the rights package.
All games will be broadcast across the JM Sports Radio Network with primary airing on Talk Radio 1210 – WPHT. The date of this season’s championship games is Monday, February 26, 2018. Keeping with PCL tradition, the girls’ championship game will precede the boys’ title game. Exact game times are still to be determined.
The Agreement extends to include Jvdad Talent, Voice and Media LLC, a Lansdale-based firm that will collectively work on all phases of production and distribution.
Joe Krause, President of JAKIB Media Sports, expressed pleasure with the new agreement.
“For the second year, we are very excited to be the broadcast partner of the Philadelphia Catholic League,” Krause said. “In 2017, we had people outside the Palestra huddled up around the Radio listening to the live broadcast and preserving that memory is a tremendous win for all involved.”
Archbishop Wood Athletic Director and Chairman of the PCL, Joe Sette, commented, “we are thrilled about renewing our agreement with JAKIB Media Sports and feel this association will help create an even greater interest for the PCL Brand. Both JAKIB Media Sports and Jvdad Talent, Voice and Media bring outstanding high school programming to the Delaware Valley, tremendous reach and we are excited to work with both firms.”
JAKIB Media Sports will build on the momentum established last year when the Cardinal O’Hara girls topped Archbishop Wood and the Archbishop Wood boys upended Neumann-Goretti in a pair of thrilling games at the Palestra.
Long considered among the premier high school conferences in the country with regard to basketball talent, pedigree and level of competition, the PCL has 17 member schools from Philadelphia and the surrounding Pennsylvania suburbs. The league itself has been in existence for almost 100 years.
“The feedback from fans and alumni was extremely positive last year, and I commend JAKIB Media Sports and the PCL for continuing this successful partnership,” stated Stephen Haug, Executive Director of Athletics for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia
. “For this agreement to have now expanded so that both the boys’ and girls’ semifinals and championship games will be aired is a great opportunity for the participating schools and student-athletes.”
The basketball broadcasts will be made available outside the Philadelphia listening area. Alums and other fans from a greater distance can download the Tune-In Radio App for free and listen to the broadcast from wherever they reside. In addition, the broadcasts can be heard through
www.AOPathletics.org.
Joe Krause will handle the play-by-play duties, with Rich Henkels providing color commentary for both games.
