HERSHEY, PA - Senior Nasir Peoples scored ran for 266 yards and four touchdowns and Kyle Pitts added a touchdown catch and an interception as Archbishop Wood claimed its second consecutive PIAA 5A crown with a dominating 49-14 win over Gateway on Friday evening at Hersheypark Stadium.
The victory marked the fifth state title in seven years for the Vikings (12-2), who jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the opening quarter and led 49-0 with 6:42 remaining in the third quarter. Peoples scored on runs of 68, 2, 14 and 13 yards, while senior Adrian Lambert added touchdown runs of 19 and 5 yards in the opening half. Pitts scored ona a five-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Jack Colyar in the second quarter, and picked off a pass in the endzone late in the third quarter to thwart a final drive by Gateway.
