Archbishop Wood Earns Historic Victory In The Finals Of The 2017 PCL Boys' Basketball Championship

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Senior Collin Gillespie scored 22 of his game-high 24 points in the second half as top-seed Archbishop Wood earned its first Philadelphia Catholic League title in program history as it rallied for a a 65-58 victory over Neumann-Goretti before a sellout crowd of 8,722 on Monday evening at the historic Palestra.
Matt Cerruti scored 15 points and junior Tyree Pickron added 13 points for the Vikings (22-3), who overcame a 13-point halftime deficit (31-18) to extend their winning streak to 16 games. Senior guard Quade Green scored 18 points to lead No. 2 Neumann-Goretti (18-7), which finished runner-up for the third consecutive year after seizing the 2014 PCL crown.
