PHILADELPHIA, PA -
Senior guard Hannah Nihill scored a game-high 13 points as Cardinal O'Hara claimed the 2017 Philadelphia Catholic League Girls' Basketball Championship over defending champion Archbishop Wood on Monday evening before a sellout crowd of 8,722 at the historic Palestra.  

Maura Hendrixson chipped in 10 points for the third-seeded Lions (20-5), who earned their first PCL crown since 2013 and 10th in the past 20 years.  Cardinal O'Hara ended the game on an 8-3 run over the final three minutes to extend its winning streak to eight games. 

Archbishop Wood (18-7) was seeking to repeat as PCL champions and entered the 2017 Championship as the top seed by virtue of its perfect 12-0 record in regular season play. Cassie Sebold led the Vikings with eight points, while Katie May added six points for the Vikings.   Full recap here
