Matt Walp Named Varsity Football Head Coach At Archbishop Wood

WARMINSTER, PA - Archbishop Wood is pleased to announce the hiring of Matt Walp as the school's Varsity Football head coach.
Walp has served as an assistant coach at Wood since 2014, coaching running backs, defensive backs, linebackers and tight ends under former head coaches Steve Devlin and Kyle Adkins. He previously coached at Neshaminy High School and Delaware Valley University.
The Vikings ended the 2019 season with a dramatic 19-15 win over Cheltenham in the finals of the PIAA 5A Football Championship at Hersheypark Stadium, as Max Keller connected with Cardel Pigford on a three-yard touchdown pass with four seconds remaining. The victory secured the sixth state title in program annals for Archbishop Wood, which previously claimed the PIAA crown in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.
Walp resides in Levittown with his two children. His daughter, Myranda, is a junior at Temple University and his son, Peyton, is a freshman at Temple University.
