PHILADELPHIA, PA -
Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls is pleased to announce that Mr. Tim McCartney has been named the school’s new Athletic Director.

Mr. McCartney has been a part time Business Education teacher at Little Flower for the past seven years and has also served as its golf coach. In addition to his prior duties at Little Flower, Tim has been a coach at the CYO level for over 15 years in various sports. He is a 1978 graduate of Archbishop Wood High School for Boys, where he played football. He holds an undergraduate degree from The Catholic University of America and a J.D. from The University of Toledo. After many years of corporate and private legal practice, Tim began teaching the Entrepreneurship and Personal Finance classes at Little Flower and is a fixture at all Little Flower events.

“During my seven years at Little Flower, I’ve experienced first-hand the importance of athletics to our community, and I look forward to being a part of a dedicated group of students, parents, coaches and staff in continuing the proud history of Little Flower sports - Go Sentinels!”

Jeane McNamara, President of Little Flower stated, "We undertook this search with great urgency knowing the importance of this role to Little Flower’s students. We found strong interest from a robust candidate pool, enabling us to act quickly and with great confidence. I'm proud to say we found the ideal leader for our athletic programs. Tim understands the longstanding traditions that make Little Flower so special, but also casts a gaze toward future opportunities to grow the athletic program.”

Mr. McCartney will be supported in the Athletic Department by Mrs. Laura Moyer, Assistant Director for Advancement at Little Flower. Laura is a 2010 graduate of Saint Hubert’s High School, where she competed in cross country and outdoor track and field. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Temple University and has professional experience in the fields of education and social work. Laura has served as Little Flower’s Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track and Field Coach for the past 3 years. She will continue in those capacities while assuming her new duties. Laura will assist the Little Flower Athletic Program with communications and moderating Student Athletic and Spirit Association.

"As a former student athlete in an all-girls Catholic high school, I am excited for this opportunity to share what I have learned with the Little Flower Athletic teams. I look forward to working with Mr. McCartney, our coaches, student athletes, parents and staff."

These hires come after the news that on June 3, 2021, longtime Athletic Director, Adam Buchter, had resigned his position, citing his wish to spend more time with his family. We thank Mr. Buchter for his many years of service to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Catholic schools as Athletic Director. Mr. Buchter’s sharing of his experience and wisdom were extremely valuable assets to our community during his tenure.

Please join us in offering prayerful best wishes and welcoming Mr. McCartney and Mrs. Moyer to their new roles.
