Cardinal O'Hara Wins 2022 PCL Girls' Volleyball Championship In Thriller Over Archbishop Wood

RADNOR, PA - Junior Jasmine Sullivan registered 25 kills and 13 digs and Cardinal O'Hara rallied for a dramatic 3-2 win over Archbishop Wood on Friday evening in the finals of the 2022 PCL Girls' Volleyball Championship at Nerney Field House on the campus of Cabrini University.
The win secured the second straight league title for the Lions, who received 24 assists from freshman Maggie Carcillo and six kills and seven blocks from senior Maeve Brannan.
On the strength of six consecutive points, COHS claimed the first set, 25-22, before No. 2 Archbishop Wood earned a 25-23 win in the second set. Trailing by ten points in the third set, the Lions rallied to edge AW in a terrific back-and-forth, set, 30-28. Strong serves by both Natalie Albin and Becky Grace lifted the Vikings to a 25-20 victory in the fourth set. Archbishop Wood earned the first two points in the fifth set but Cardinal O'Hara recorded six of the next seven points and never trailed again en route to a jubilant on-court celebration.
Vying for its first PCL title since 2016, Archbishop Wood defeated St. Hubert's (3-0) in the quarterfinals and Lansdale Catholic (3-0) in the semifinals as it advanced to the PCL finals for the second consecutive year.
Cardinal O'Hara will play for the District XII 3A title at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 while Archbishop Wood will play in the District XII Third-Place contest at 5:00 p.m. Both contests will be held at Bonner & Prendie.
