HERSHEY, PA - Senior Maggie Doogan scored a team-high 12 points and Cardinal O'Hara's stifling defense paved the way for a 42-19 win over Chartiers Valley on Friday evening in the finals of the 2022 PIAA Girls' Basketball 5A Championship at the Giant Center.

The win marked the Lions' second consecutive PIAA title in their fourth appearance in program history. Cardinal O'Hara also defeated Chartiers Valley in the 2021 PIAA Championship, 51-27.

COHS led 8-2 after the opening eight minutes and held Chartiers Valley (28-3) to eight total points in the second half and five made field goals on the evening. The Lions surrendered an average of just 24.0 points per game in their five PIAA Tourney victories.

Senior forward Annie Welde scored eight of her 11 points in the opening half, while freshman Molly Rullo added eight points, senior Sydni Scott grabbed eight rebounds and Doogan notched five steals in the victory.
