DREXEL HILL, PA -
Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School has announced that Billy Cassidy has accepted an offer to become Head Coach of its Boys' Basketball Team.

Coach Cassidy comes to Bonner & Prendie after a three year stint as the top assistant at Penncrest High School.  During his tenure there, the team enjoyed consistent post season success including both District and State playoff appearances. Before his time at Penncrest, Coach Cassidy was an assistant on Bonner & Prendie’s 2018-2019 District XII Champion and State Runner-Up team.  He will replace former head coach Kevin Funston, who had an all-time record of 55-26 with Bonner & Prendie.

“We are thrilled to have Billy come back to Bonner & Prendie as our new head coach.  He will bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the team and BP community,” said Athletic Director Adam Marso.

Coach Cassidy is also a former student of Bonner & Prendie where he played at the varsity level from 2009-2011 and was an All-Catholic Honorable Mention in 2011.  He continued his playing career at Chestnut Hill College before transferring to Neumann University where he accumulated 1,039 career points.

Coach Cassidy currently works as a Juvenile Probation officer in Chester, and resides in Media as does his fiancé, Nikki.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime and I am ready to embrace it.  Bonner & Prendie always has had a special place in my heart and the Philadelphia Catholic League has a rich tradition I’m tremendously excited to be a part of once again.  I look forward to impacting young men not only as a coach, but also a life mentor, teacher and advocate,” said Cassidy.
