WYNDMOOR, PA - Freshman Amirah Nesmith set a meet record in the 100m dash and won three individual events as Archbishop Ryan captured the 2023 PCL Girls’ Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday afternoon under intermittent rain showers at Devine Track on the campus of La Salle College High School.

On the boys’ side, senior Ryan McGinley won both the 800m and mile run as La Salle College compiled 149 points to overtake Father Judge (115) on a terrific day of competition.

Nesmith claimed gold in the long jump (18-1) and the 200m (25.13) while her time of 11.86 in the 100m dash eclipsed the previous PCL record of 12.05 set by Nicole Leach (West Catholic) in 2005.  Nesmith’s teammate Reynah Ratliff won the 300m hurldles (48.79) and placed second in the 400m (59.78), while AR senior Shaniah Williams secured a gold and a silver medal competing in the high jump and triple jump, respectively.

Archbishop Wood freshman Gwen Hamilton (800m, mile) and senior Hannah Quinn (discus, shot put) of Bonner & Prendie each won two individual events, while West Catholic senior Taleea Buxton notched a victory in the triple jump and set a meet record in the 100m hurdles (14.03).

Senior Sam Ross placed first in the discus with a mark of 138-0 and junior Cole Casadei won the 3,200m (9:31.47) as La Salle College captured its eighth consecutive PCL boys' title.  Sophomore Logan Maloney of Cardinal O’Hara seized gold in the 100m (11.05) and 200m (21.88) dashes, while Roman senior Demetrius Bell (110m high hurdles, 300m hurdles) and Brock Harris of St. Joseph’s Prep (high jump, 400m) also claimed two gold medals apiece.
