DREXEL HILL, PA -
2023 Bonner & Prendie graduate Kevin McGonigle was selected by the Detroit Tigers with the 37th overall pick in the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft on Sunday evening which was aired live on ESPN and the MLB Network.

Named the 2023 Gatorade Pennsylvania Baseball Player of the Year, McGonigle batted .515 with 32 walks, eight doubles, six home runs and four triples this past season while earning PCL MVP honors.  He surpassed the 100-hit milestone for his career, became the school's all-time leader in home runs and led the Friars to the PIAA Semifinals for the third consecutive year.  He has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Auburn University in the Fall.

Last year, 2020 Bonner & Prendie grad and Charlotte infielder Nate Furman was selected in the fourth round (121st overall) of the MLB Draft by the Cleveland Guardians.

Congratulations Kevin!
