LANSDALE, PA - Lansdale Catholic today welcomes Tom Lonergan as head coach of the Varsity Girls’ Basketball team.
Lonergan has enjoyed successful stints as a head coach at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, Central Bucks East High School and Bishop McDevitt High School. Coach Lonergan has won more than 790 games and has 20 League Championships including four PCL Championships. He replaces Eric Gidney who stepped down last month after six seasons as head coach at LC.
"We are very excited to have someone like Coach Lonergan join our girls basketball program. We feel his knowledge and expertise is a great fit for our program and our school community," said BJ Hogan, Director of Athletics at Lansdale Catholic High School.
LC President Meghan Callen '96 added, "This program is near and dear to my heart. A year and a half ago, our talented seniors were sophomores winning the program's first ever PCL and PIAA State Championship. It was a highlight of our school history, but they certainly aren't finished. These young ladies deserve the highest caliber of leaders and an expectation of excellence. Welcome, Coach Lonergan."
