MECHANICSBURG, PA - Senior Mick Johnson amassed four rushing touchdowns and Brett Johnson returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown as time expired in the second quarter as Bonner & Prendie captured the 2024 PIAA Football 4A Championship with a 40-14 victory over Lampeter-Strasburg on Thursday evening at frigid Chapman Stadium on the campus of Cumberland Valley High School.

The win secured the first state title in school history in any sport for Bonner & Prendie, which limited previously unbeaten Lampeter-Strasburg to just 196 yards of total offense on the evening.

The Friars (12-2) jumped out to a 14-0 lead just 9:23 into the game as Mick Johnson scored from one-yard out and junior running back Saleem Frink recovered a fumble in the endzone.  The Pioneers even the score at 14-14 with a pair of second quarter touchdowns before BP took a 21-14 ladvantage as Mick Johnson tallied a four-yard scoring run with 31 seconds remaining before halftime which was set up by a 40-yard strike from Noel Campbell (162 yards passing) to senior Jalil Hall.

Following a Pioneers first down, Brett Johnson then provided the heroics to close out the half as he picked off a pass and outraced several Lampeter-Strasburg players to the endzone with no time remaining to give the Friars a 27-14 advantage at halftime.  Mick Johnson added second half scoring runs of three-and-five yards before a jubilant celebration ensued at midfield at the final horn.  Johnson finished the game with 111 rushing yards while junior Jeremiah Coleman (six receptions) and Hall (65 yards) combined for 132 receiving yards on 10 catches as Bonner & Prendie averaged 45.0 points in its four postseason victories in 2024.

Defensively, BP forced four turnovers - including interceptions by Coleman, Brett Johnson and sophomore linebacker Ky Barrett - while Hall notched a team-high eight tackles and sophomore Cole Romano added five unassisted stops as Lampeter-Strasburg entered the PIAA finals having scored 40 or more points on seven occasions this season.

Congratulations to head coach Jack Muldoon and the student-athletes on a truly memorable 2024 season!
