Archbishop Ryan Varsity Softball Head Coach John Kidwell Announces His Retirement

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Archbishop Ryan High School is honored to announce the retirement of Head Coach John Kidwell, a pillar of its Softball program and a dedicated member of the school community for the past 32 years. Coach Kidwell has tendered his resignation and will be stepping down from his role as Head Coach.
John Kidwell's journey with Archbishop Ryan began as an assistant coach under the late Andy Hefele, a tenure that set the foundation for his exceptional leadership. For the past 10 years, Coach Kidwell has helmed our Girls Softball program, guiding the team to unparalleled success. Under his leadership, the program captured five Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) Championships and reached the PIAA quarterfinals three times.
Coach Kidwell's influence extended beyond the diamond. He has been instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence that prioritizes both athletic and academic achievement. Over his decade-long leadership, 21 student-athletes from our softball program have advanced to play at the collegiate level, a testament to his commitment to developing well-rounded individuals.
