Cardinal O'Hara Edges Lansdale Catholic In Thrilling PCL Girls' Volleyball Championship Match

ASTON, PA - Senior Michelle Eburuoh registered 18 kills and eight blocks and teammate Kerigan Patterson added 11 digs and five aces as No. 1 Cardinal O’Hara defended its league title with a thrilling 3-2 win over second seeded Lansdale Catholic in the finals of the 2025 PCL Girls' Volleyball Championship on Thursday evening in front of a terrific crowd at the Mirenda Center on the campus of Neumann University.
The win secured the Lady Lions' second consecutive PCL crown and fourth in five seasons overall. Olivia Oakes compiled 39 assists and 12 digs while senior Aslyn Gualtieri added 11 kills on the evening for COHS.
Trailing 22-18 in the opening game, Cardinal O'Hara rallied for a 25-23 win and then scored the final seven points of the second set to notch a 25-22 victory and a 2-0 advantage. LC then rallied with a 25-12 win in the third game and overcame an early 6-0 deficit in the fourth to secure a dramatic 26-24 victory to the delight of its raucous student section. Cardinal O’Hara never trailed in the fifth set and after LC pulled even at 7-7, the Lions tallied six of the next seven points before closing out the match (15-12) before a wild celebration with its jubilant student section. Vying for its second PCL crown in three seasons, Lansdale Catholic was led by strong play from seniors Ellie Carickhoff and Katie Royds and timely serving from Marissa Passerini.
Cardinal O'Hara will play for the District XII 4A Championship while Lansdale Catholic will compete for the 2A Championship. Both matches will be played on Thursday, Oct. 30, at Lincoln High School. Opponents and matches times will be announced following the completion of the PPL Championships on Oct. 28.
