PHILADELPHIA, PA – Sophomore Gianna Petrarca notched a straight-sets victory (6-3, 6-3) at the No. 3 singles flight as Lansdale Catholic earned a 4-1 victory over Nazareth Academy on Tuesday morning in the finals of the 2025 PCL Girls’ Tennis Championship.
The win secured the Crusaders’ first league crown since 2022.
LC opened the match with a pair of points in doubles action as Emma Lahr and Izzy Saxton defeated Lenna Vartanian and Maura Gilligan (6-2, 6-4) at No. 1 doubles, while Sarah McGoldrick and Addie Herr recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win over Regina Durant and Ava Stanton at the No. 2 flight. Junior Dani Foret of Lansdale Catholic was victorious at second singles with a hard fought 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win against Grace Vartanian for the Crusaders’ fourth point of the contest.
Making its first appearance in the PCL finals since joining the league during the 2023-24 school year, Nazareth Academy earned its point as senior Sadie Walker registered a 6-4, 6-3 victory against LC senior Kate Donathan at first singles.
LC will play Masterman for the District XII 2A Championship at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Legacy Tennis Center.
