Sixth Seeded Bonner & Prendie Seizes 2025 PCL Baseball Championship

CAMDEN, NJ - Senior Michael Klawansky tossed six shutout innings and No. 6 Bonner & Prendie scored six runs in the fifth inning en route to a 10-0 victory over fifth-seeded Archbishop Ryan on Saturday in the finals of the 2025 PCL Baseball Championship on the campus of Rutgers-Camden University.
The win secured the second league title in four seasons for the Friars, who outscored their three opponents by a 29-4 margin in the PCL playoffs.
Bonner & Prendie jumped out to a 1-0 in the top of the first inning as senior Michael Coleman drew a one-out walk and stole second before scoring on an RBI single by sophomore Gavin DiRita off Arcbbishop Ryan starter Sean Cahill. Archbishop Ryan had runners at first and second with no outs in the bottom of the second as sophomore Emil-Favio Monegro and junior Victor Corniel opening the inning with singles. However, Klawansky got out of the jam and registered one of his six strikeouts on the afternoon to retire the side.
The Friars added a run in the top of the third as DiRita's run-scoring single with two outs drove in Sergio Hernandez. Bonner & Prendie then tallied six runs in the fifth on six hits, including RBI singles by Joey Graziani, Ryan Friel and Owen Lockhart. DiRita paced the Friars with three hits in the game while Graziani and Friel collected two hits apiece.
Seeking the program’s first PCL crown since 1984 and making its first finals appearance since 2010, Archbishop Ryan was led by Corniel’s two hits while junior Christian Gonzalez added a double.
Bonner & Prendie will face Central on May 28 at FDR in the District XII 6A Championship. Archbishop Ryan advances to the PIAA 4A First Round on June 2 versus the third seed from District III.
