HERSHEY, PA - Junior Korey Francis scored 18 points to lead four players in double figures and Bonner & Prendie utilized a suffocating defense en route to capturing the 2026 PIAA 5A Boys’ Basketball Championship with a 62-35 win over West York on Friday evening at the Giant Center.

The win secured the program’s first-ever PIAA title and second in school history as the Friars won the 2024 PIAA 4A Football Championship.

West York (25-2) scored the first seven points of the game and led 23-22 at the half on an off-balance three-point field goal in the final seconds of the second quarter.  Holding a 33-29 advantage early in the third quarter, Bonner & Prendie (24-6) reeled off 15 straight points to push its lead to 48-33 midway thru the fourth quarter.  Francis scored 12 of his team-high 18 points in the second half and was joined in double figures by junior Jakeem Carroll (14), sophomore DaShaun Holden (11) and guard Kam Jackson (10).

The Friars limited West York to 12 points in the second half, forced 20 turnovers on the evening and registered 12 steals, including seven by Francis.  Bonner & Prendie allowed an average of just 41.6 points in its five PIAA Championship victories.  Jackson dished out a game-high six assists while Carroll knocked down three field goals from beyond the arc.

Congratulations to head coach Billy Cassidy and the student-athletes on an unforgettable 2025-26 season.
